First off don't be broken, unless it's in a good way then be broken...
I broke my phone!!!! It's a sad experience but a good one too. I like not having to carry around a phone or worry about it or even to check it. It's so nice to be free from the grasp of the phone, I encourage you and everyone else who wants to to do a 3 day fast from your phone besides phone calls. It will be life lifting. I can promise you that. Also I love to hear from you all, and sorry if I never respond I promise I read all your messages. And because I have broken a phone I have no pictures I can send... I'm sending this right now as a computer to all of you.
We had a baptism of Greg, the Blind Swahili guy. It was such a great experience and brought so much joy to my heart. And there was a MBUZI party afterwards. Mbuzi is a goat, we ate the goat, and we enjoyed eating the goat. "It looks like meat's back on the menu boys!"
I have to honestly tell you all something, it's a deep dark secret. Normal church is kinda boring. It really is, when the speakers speak and the sound goes on. It's hard to often stay awake. Now, I'm not saying you shouldn't go to church or that it's bad. Church is the best and church sleep is probably the best sleep out there. But Swahili Church is amazing. With lots of Swahili songs, and hymn books being used as drums. It keeps you on your toes. It's like walking into a room of zebras, you don't know what the heck will happen. You just watch the Zebras and pray for the best. And it has been the best! We are working on the Africans. We had 29 at church with 8 baptised members. But the only problem is they all show up on African time. We say 12 they come at 1245 we are supposed to end at 1 we end like 120... It's all right though, because it's a sweet experience.
I'll leave with a spiritual thought, one that I figure might help y'all. Adam was the first prophet on the earth, then wickedness happened which led to prophets being rejected and God's word being taken away for a bit. Then comes Noah, the people are wicked and wickedness is taking over the world, and hence the flood. In the flood the wicked perished and were lost because they didn't listen to God's will and his commandments. Next to the plate was batter Abraham. He listened and was a Prophet and went about teaching the good word. But eventually wickedness happened. Just like Moses after coming from the Mount making the 10 commandments to see his people worshipping a Golden Cow. And as such they were led in the wilderness till all the wicked perished of old age. After each prophet they rejected the Word of God was taken for a time so they could repent. And so this went on with Joseph, Daniel, Isaiah and others. With each time the people saying, "If we had only been in the time of Noah, we would have listened to him" (talking to a prophet of their time like Abraham...) but would they? they rejected their modern prophet so they would have rejected the prophet of old. This eventually led to Jesus Christ who came to the Earth and taught the people. He started his own church, even though there were so many churches on the earth at his time. Because none was right. Two of these churches the leaders who were the Pharisees and Saducess said "If only we had been in the time of Abraham we would have listened to him" but Jesus taught them the Word of God which they rejected like they would have if they were in Abraham's time. They eventually Crucified our Lord Jesus. Like so many other prophets before him, they went against and killed him. Then God's word was taken from the Earth as the last Apostles were crucified. His power to act, or the Priesthood was gone. No one was there to hear God's will. This darkness lasted for a number of years. After the religious resurrection and tons of churches were growing after all these Men who were God inspired found and tried to correct some of the doctrine of the Christian church (example Martin Luther King). Then once one of the only Countries who had ever established Religious freedom was founded, in God's promised land his Word was once again sent to the Earth. After a Boy knelt to pray. Just like Ephesians 2: 20 states. His Word was once again established like so many prophets before. And he was given the Book of Mormon in order to prove his stance, which goes hand and hand with the bible. Because so many other churches had just the bible and so many were different they needed something to guide them, that could be agreed with the bible and could teach the true doctrine. I know this Church is true and yall can find the truth of it through the Book of Mormon and the Prophets and the Bible. I love yall. And I am sorry for this long long email... I'll write short next time.
The scripture is the one mentioned in the story.
Love, Elder Brice
