August 9, 2021 Spokane

Its been a happy jolly good week. Not much has happened out side the norm in Spokane Washington. But Ill tell you some awesome true stories that hopefully wont put you to sleep, and if they do tell me so I can risk my life for some dangerous stories. I love you all.

We were teaching a lady named Jean, shes an awesome lady. Shes 69 and struggling with cancer but refuses to back down. The morning we went over there, the previous night she had attacked and retreated from a skunk who had invaded her property and had aroused the anger of the tiny dog. When she tried to get ride of the skunk it chased her and her dog down the street attempting to spray her. (These are her own words) so when we taught her, outside of her house (covid) it smelled like a skunk the entire time. But thats all good, half way into the lesson I heard gun shots in the neighboorhood, (techniqually the sketchhood with a few drug houses) they lasted for about 30 seconds and then a siren could be heard. But we taught her through all that. She stated it was normal for her neighboorhood...

We meet the landlord of the city, or thats what he told us when we waited next to him at a red light. He told us how he owns this city (this is kid friendly version, dont ask for the not kid friendly version) we told him how awesome he was. Well then, he asked for some cash, just renting money I suppose... -we cant hand out money- We told him we didnt have any. So he told us we pretty much suck and that we were going to get shot. So now we keep a constant eye out for that guy incase we get shot at. But we wished him the best and told him we love him. Im telling you guys, dont go to Spokane for a visit, its crazy with tons of drugs -some lady was telling us they legalised meth, and that police cant be called to domestic violence situations unless theres a weapon- which is crazy. We see a lot of weird stuff.

We taught a guy named Greg who is blind and from Africa. He speaks Swahili. He told us his life story (in english). He was living with his parents and family in africa till his house got bombed and blown up, only he survived. From there he went to the city and lived on the streets. One day when a massive riot took place a driver of a vehicle ran him over (or hit him?) He was covered with blood and had broken a bunch of bones. The money normally paid to him for a accident was given to the corrupt police, and he was placed in a morgue supposedly dead. He later woke up and was found by somebody who worked there, from there he moved to america, became blind had a operation to fix it which messed up his eyes even more so he was completly blind and has been living in Spokane the rest of his life.

So all in all, if you fell asleep its okay. I still love you, maybe just a little less.... If you want to be safe, say lots of prayers and keep the holy ghost with you. It will guide you out of danger and away from harm. Learn to love to read the bible and the book of mormon as they are the words of god. Learn to love and serve god too. And always keep a eye over your shoulder, you have a companion only for a distraction if something happens (just kidding, kindof). If you got any good jokes tell me, I love a good laugh. My new favorite qoute is from J. Golden Kimball "What can God do for a liar who refuses to repent? Can the lord save him? He can't claim salvation. Baptizing him in water will not settle the trouble, unless you keep him under." I urge you all to repent unto god, and not to lie. You will feel better and be happier. Anything is better then feeling like you are drowning! (Literally and figuratively)

Love you all!!! You guys are awesome
Love, Elder Brice!!!
